The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have enjoyed hearing what former player Robert Pires has had to say about Lucas Torreira, who looks very close to completing a move to The Emirates. The 44-year-old spent six years at Arsenal and is loved by everyone associated with The Gunners.

Lucas Torreira has been enjoying his first World Cup campaign with Uruguay and he’ll be hoping he can do what Robert Pires did back in 1998 and win the tournament. If he can get is hands on the trophy, it’ll look like he’s following in the footsteps of the former French winger as he is on the brink of a move to the Gunners and could become the 4th signing of the Unai Emery era in North London.
The 22-year-old midfield maestro would become the first Uruguayan to play for the Gunners in the Premier League and the fans will be hoping he might be able to convince some of his international pals, Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez to join the club. Whilst that looks very unlikely, Torriera leaving Sampdoria for Arsenal is a great piece of business for the club and the fans can aim for silverware with the youngster propping up their midfield.

The Arsenal fans propping our bar p will always love Pires and if Torreira can come in and have an impact he could one day get the same reception that the Frenchman gets.
