After a pretty miserable time of things over the last few years, Sunderland’s unbeaten start to life in League One has at least calmed the previously stormy waters on the River Wear. Indeed, though the Black Cats have a long way to go before the fans will really start to get excited, it’s been a good start.
Still, there are problems behind the scenes at the Stadium of Light.
The dark clouds to have lingered over the club in recent years are clearing, though there are still reminders about one of the bleakest periods in Sunderland’s history. A prime example would be the unrest behind the scenes of some of the club’s highly-paid flops, such as Papy Djilobodji.
Interestingly, according to the Roker Report, the former Chelsea man is finally set to return to the club’s training base this week after going AWOL over the course of the summer as he tried to force through a move. As much as the Senegalese seemingly wanted to leave, the European transfer window slammed shut on the 31 August, leaving the 29-year-old in limbo.
Well, Djilobodji can’t expect a warm welcome upon his return. As you can imagine, the fans can’t stand the man and took to Twitter to vent their frustration at the situation, as well as slate the player himself.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the reaction.
I would have them lined up outside of the SOL every game with a supply of rotten pies, eggs and tomatoes for the fans to show their appreciation!

Disgusting behaviour from a so called professional. Shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the club until it's legally explored how to get shot of him. Hopefully!!
