Whilst some Sunderland fans will have been delighted to see their side record a win against Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon, there were many of them ecstatic on Twitter with what they saw from Max Power in the game.
The Black Cats seem to have turned things around recently with a positive run of results as the festive period appears to have been kind to them.
Phil Parkinson has guided his group of players to two wins in their last three League One matches, with a further three having been drawn since their last defeat (Sky Sports). However the win on Saturday afternoon was their first at the Stadium of Light since the beginning of November.
Whilst Power did not get his name on the scoresheet in the 3-1 victory, he played a stellar role in the middle of the park as he tried to have a big influence on the game.
According to data by WhoScored, the 26-year-old played two key passes to his team-mates, whilst he got stuck in defensively with three total tackles and one interception.
Indeed, that performance led to a number of supporters waxing lyrical over the midfielder’s display on Twitter, with many sharing positive reactions.
Here are just some of their initial reactions…
Max Power again excellent today, ran the game, dictated the tempo in the middle. Moved the ball well and is a real leader. Spread the play into Gooch and Maguire very well and Lincoln couldn’t deal with his passing range #SAFC

Thought spine of the #safc team were great, Willis/Ozturk, Power/Dobson, Wyke.
Thought it nailed on we’d clock off at half time though with the points in the bag, but it was a massive improvement.
We’ll not mention Lincoln thinking they had Pique and Puyol playing at the back— Ray Hopkins (@rhayopkins) January 4, 2020
Dobson and Power were excellent again today #safc

Excellent first half, poor second half. Power, Willis and Gooch superb. Wyke is the worst cf I’ve ever seen. #parkyout #DonaldOut

Classic game of 3 halves.
Gooch man of the match by a mile, Power very good, back 3 solid.
Dare to dream…

Good performance for Sunderland today. Lincoln woeful in the first half, but Sunderland played well. 2nd half Lincoln had to make a game of it and did. Their goal was a foul on Hume but other than that we saw the game out without any real panic. Overall grade C. Max Power MoM.
