The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to rumours (via Yahoo) that they’re the front-runners in the race to sign Celtic’s 20-year-old star, Kieran Tierney. The young full-back has been a revelation at Parkhead, scoring three goals and setting up a further six in 28 appearances in the Scottish Premiership this term. Spurs have been labelled as front-runners seeing as they look set to sell Danny Rose in the coming window.

The Tottenham fans who’ve been propping our bar up are unsure over the young left-back. At the age of just 20, and with a contract that runs until 2023, the money it would take to prise him away from the Bhoys in Green could be more than Spurs are willing to pay for a left-sided defender who’s unproven in the Premier League. The young defender was promoted to Celtic’s first team in December 2015 and instantly made his name known. Since then the youngster has gone on to make 127 appearances for the Hoops.
Kieran Tierney is the perfect Mauricio Pochettino player. The Scottish left-back is young, lively and has a massive ceiling to grow into one of Europe’s best defenders. With Danny Rose set to leave the club in summer, the money from his departure could be pumped into bringing Tierney to the club, and with the Scot being seven years younger than Rose it would be no surprise to see him moving to North London soon. The Spurs fans in our bar have also been looking at Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon as a Rose replacement, although Tierney looks like the cheaper, and more defensively sound, option for Pochettino.
You can see what our local Lilywhites think about the Tierney rumours here:
If Fulham get promoted and keep Sessegnon for their PL campaign, I’d be fine with this as an alternative

He's going nowhere. He absolutely loves Celtic.

Heard he’s good but the last highly rated full back we signed from Glasgow didn’t play out well……
