Our Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping to see some new players arrive through the doors of their new stadium next season.
Spurs have crept into the top-four places in recently, at Chelsea’s expense and it’s the Blues who have been in freefall so far this year. However, in the first few months of the season, it didn’t look too good for Mauricio Pocchettino has his team seemed to struggle following a fair few good years fighting at the top of the Premier League, though that looks to have been stopped for now.
Spurs have had a settled side for some time now, but our punters feel that it needs a serious shakeup and a certain revitalising ahead of next season for fear of it becoming stagnant – much like their rivals Arsenal.
If Pochettino is to be labelled as a success by bringing any kind of trophy to Spurs during his time at the club, then our barman thinks he needs to be a little more ruthless in his team makeup. With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at TWO players who could come in and really light things up within the squad…
Nabil Fekir
Nabil Fekir is having one of his best ever seasons in Europe at the moment. He is banging in goals left, right and centre and helping Lyon in Ligue 1 climb the table. Indeed, his range of passing and direct dribbling ability would surely mix things up at Spurs and, he could be the player to sit just behind Harry Kane whilst feeding him assist after assist, much like he has done for Lyon this season.
With Tottenham often struggling to break teams down, he could be the man to unlock a defence.
Ciro Immobile
The Italian is having a great season so far for Lazio, with him averaging a goal a game. Tottenham desperately needs a different option to Harry Kane for when a game isn’t going their way, and having Fernando Llorente on the bench just isn’t going to cut it in the big time among the elite.
Immobile would bring a wealth of experience with him and a much-needed source of healthy competition for Kane to stop him from becoming complacent.
