Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for big changes this summer, as they feel the club need a new direction on and off the pitch.

After Juventus’ brilliant come back against rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League, that was the reported moment chief executive Ivan Gazidis wanted to bring Massimiliano Allegri to the Emirates next season.

The Gunners need a change of vision and direction according to our barman, and the Italian could be the perfect replacement for Arsene Wenger should he leave this summer. Many in the bar feel that if Wenger manages to pull of the Europa League victory to ensure Champions League football next year, that would justify the board giving him another year at the club.

This may cause an uproar, but our landlord has been taking a look at the possibility of a Wenger OUT and Allegri IN situation and what it would mean for these TWO players…

Petr Cech

The ageing keeper is showing his age this season and his back up David Ospina isn’t up to the quality Arsenal need between the sticks. If the Gunners are to revamp the squad, starting at the back would be the obvious first place to start for any new manager.

However good Cech has been for his club, it’s time to bring in a more youthful and energetic keeper. One in the mould of the great Czech Republic man would be ideal.

Granit Xhaka

The midfielder has been long said to cost the team more points then he earns them. Indeed, Arsenal need a great holding midfielder to break play down and start an attack with a simple pass forward. Many in the bar feel that Xhaka doesn’t provide this and it could be the missing link they need.

There’s many in the game at the moment, and if the Italian boss was to come in and defensive holding midfielder should surely be high on his priority shopping list.
