Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Jurgen Klopp can make some big incomings happen in the summer and finally nail down one of their long-term targets.

The Reds have long been linked with a move for the Monaco winger Thomas Lemar after having bids rejected over the course of the summer. Still, it seems Liverpool are going to go back in for him at the end of the campaign, much to the delight of our resident Reds.

Obviously, Liverpool still have the money from selling Philippe Coutinho burning a hole in their pockets and a replacement must be high on Klopp’s summer shopping list, despite the vast array of attacking talent currently available to him on Merseyside.

Our regulars would love to see the 22-year-old Frenchman at Anfield and, having rejected Arsenal on deadline day last year, his heart seems to be set to join Klopp’s Anfield revolution.

However, if Lemar does join, it will surely signal the end for a couple of players, such is the competitive nature of their squad. With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at which TWO players, in particular, could be leaving out of the Anfield exit door…

Jordan Henderson

With the arrival of Lemar on the left wing, it would push more players into the middle of the park. Liverpool currently have a host of talent in the midfield and many are attack-minded players, creating one of the most exciting frontlines in the Premier League.

Jordan Henderson’s season hasn’t been the best so far of his Anfield career and this could turn Klopp’s hand into selling the captain, with the England international’s role in the midfield not wholly apparent right now.

With the form of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the creativeness of Adam Lallana, Henderson could seek first team football elsewhere.

Ben Woodburn

The young Welsh left winger could see his progress halted by the arrival of Lemar and he may seek loan moves to further gain experience. Indeed, considering his prodigious talent, it’d be no surprise if he ultimately decided to leave if the first-team path doesn’t look like opening up.

At 18, Woodburn has his whole career ahead of him, but a signing of the value and calibre of Lemar would spell restricted minutes in the matchday squad for a very long time.
