The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern will have been waking up to some strange transfer whispers this morning. According to French media outlet, L’equipe, Marouane Fellaini could be heading to Anfield as Klopp is reportedly lining up a three-year contract for the combative Belgian midfielder. Although according to the Liverpool Echo, the story is complete rubbish.
Fellaini to #LFC?
We wouldn't put our money on it.https://t.co/UzqSMdU5Zj

The reports look to be well wide of the mark as Fellaini fails to fit the mould of a Jurgen Klopp style player. Klopp’s famous “gengenpress” requires high energy players who cover a lot of ground in a game, pressing high up the potch ad being lightning quick on the counter-attack. Not only does Fellaini to fit that bracket, but his last two clubs, Manchester United and Everton, are Liverpool’s two greatest rivals.
Liverpool look destined to lose Emre Can on a free transfer this summer as the club failed to come to an agreement with the player and will be looking for someone to fill the void left by the dynamic German, although the fans are certain that their replacement won’t be Fellaini. The club has previously been linked with Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrino as a Can replacement according to The Mirror, which makes a lot more sense than Fellaini. The club will have to put their transfer dealings on hold for now though, as they gear up for their huge Champions League second-leg against Manchester City tomorrow.
