We here at the Transfer Tavern feel that Arsenal have actually been one of the most consistent Premier League sides since the arrival of Arsene Wenger.
He has constantly reached the Champions League and has won the Premier League title among other accolades during his tenure in north London.
It has actually come as a shock to our bar staff here that many have called for his head at the club.
The Frenchman has done some brilliant things and found some of the best talents ever to grace a football pitch, in the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and recently Mesut Ozil among others.
Despite the fact he has done a fantastic job at the Gunners, he has however made some mistakes.
Here are the biggest THREE mistakes in the past five years at Arsenal…..
The £40 million and £1 bid for Luis Suarez

The punters and bar staff here at the Tavern rate Suarez among the world’s best and back in July 2013, Arsene Wenger made a bid for the Liverpool striker of £40 million and £1.
Arsen Wenger at the time believed any bid over £40 million would mean a done deal, and he took that quite literally and bid just the extra pound!
Our Arsenal punters just try to imagine him in front of Ozil and playing alongside Sanchez as well.
Imagine how much more success they may well of had with an out-and-out 30-goal a season striker.
This has been discussed by many here at the Transfer Tavern as one of the worst mistakes in football.
Selling Robin Van Persie to Man United

When Arsenal fans had just seen that their best striker, and their current captain at the time, as well as their main source of goals ,had signed for one of the Gunners’ arch rivals of the past 15-years, we could imagine it was a bitter pill to swallow for the most faithful of fans.
Despite many calling him multiple names after his exit, there is no denying he was very much so a key player for the Gooners.
The flying Dutchman scored many, many goals for the North Londoners and after his exit they struggled to replace him.
Not spending the money the fans demanded

It has been a big thing in recent times, with Arsenal fans calling for them to finally spend the money they got for players previously sold
How was it they still didn’t have the money to compete with the likes of Chelsea, the Manchester clubs and even Liverpool.
Many punters here feel their club is being run more like a business than a football club.
Our bar staff here feel that if they had of maybe splashed the cash a bit more, they could well of seen a Premier League title in the past five years, as well as making it further than the last 16 in the Champions League.
With money being a key factor nowadays, it’s easy to see the Arsenal punters’ frustrations.
