The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are over the moon that their Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah will be travelling to Russia this summer to compete in the World Cup. There were initially fears over whether the Premier League star would be on the plane after dislocating his shoulder in the Champions League final after clashing with Sergio Ramos.

Egypt have been drawn into one of the World Cup’s tamer groups this summer, with games against the host nation, Russia and then lesser fancied Uruguay and Saudi Arabia. Whilst there’s no pressure on the Egyptians to perform at the tournament, having Salah in the side is a huge bonus as they look to overachieve this summer, as Salah did in the domestic season just gone with Liverpool that saw him bag 32 Premier League goals.
A big incentive for Salah this summer could be a potential clash against Spain. If Egypt come second in their group and Spain win Group B, the two nations will be drawn against each other and another meeting between Sergio Ramos and Mohamed Salah could be on the cards. The Liverpool man can avenge his Champions League heartbreak against Ramos by dumping the Spanish out of the World Cup with his brilliance and although it’s unlikely, it’s definitely a possibility.
