Manchester United fans in the Tavern were surprised by reports by Sky Sports that defenders, Daley Blind and Ashley Young, have extended their stay at the club until 2019. The news has somewhat confused supporters who believe that the clubs hierarchy have got priorities all wrong by not offering other key players contract extensions.

The main surprise in this news was that surrounding Daley Blind. The 27-year-old Dutch international seems to have fallen out of favour with Mourinho this campaign after being a common feature under former United boss Louis Van Gaal. In his fourth year with United, Blind has only managed 15 appearances this season despite appearing in every Champions League group stage game.
The news of former Watford and Villa man, Ashley Young, renewing his contract went down slightly better with fans after his resurgence over the last few years as a marauding left-back has thrown him back into first team contention for Mourinho. The 32-year-old joined United back in the summer of 2011 and has been a common feature this season, making 26 appearances so far, 21 of those being in the Premier League. However with the World Cup in Russia just around the corner, Young will be keen to keep his place in the team and try to force his way onto the plane in three months time.
