The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern tonight will be watching the news closely, as Naby Keita could soon be on his way to Merseyside.

It’s been said now ever since Klopp took charge at Liverpool that they’re one or two good signings away from challenging for the title. Despite RB Leipzig digging their heels in over the potential transfer of Naby Keita to Merseyside, the central midfielder could be just what Liverpool are after and could be that one good signing they need to really make a push at the title.

He won’t come cheap but should Klopp go against all his natural instincts and drop something in the region of £50-£60 million pounds on the player, his midfield could be an absolute dream next season.

Keita

Let’s start with the potential new signing. Keita could slot in nicely next to either Emre Can or Jordan Henderson next season with the two current Liverpool midfielders taking up their more defensive roles and letting Keita have a bit more freedom in the centre of the park.

Allowing Keita that freedom will mean more closing down, which our landlord is sure will get Klopp excited, and it means he can help with both aspects of defence and attack.

Henderson or Can

In an ideal world, our landlord wouldn’t include Henderson on this list. Sorry Liverpool fans he just think he’s a poor man’s Steven Gerrard. However, Liverpool won’t be getting rid of their club captain anytime soon so he makes the cut.

Emre Can on the other hand, at only 23 years of age, has won the Champions league, The Bundesliga, The Confederations Cup and much more compared to Henderson’s League Cup win. Ignoring the trophies, Can is a great CDM who also offers a lot going forward, very versatile and a key player for Liverpool previously and in the seasons to come.

Salah

A lot of people were wondering where Salah could fit into the team next season following his arrival from Roma. With Mane on the right and Coutinho on the left, it’s looking likely that Firmino will start up top with Salah in behind acting as a CAM or a second striker. Horribly underused at Chelsea, Salah was involved in 28 goals in 31 games for Roma last season in Serie A, and there is a lot more where that came from.
