It has not been the transfer window Tottenham fans had been hoping for.
Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern had been hoping for a couple of big names being added to Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with the likes of big earners such as Emmanuel Adebayor being shipped out.
As of yet, neither of those things have happened, with virtual unknowns arriving at White Hart Lane, and Adebayor still picking up his £110,000 a week.
Reports over the past couple of weeks have suggested that West Brom forward Saido Berahino is the top target for Pochettino and co, now the club have finally managed to offload Roberto Soldado.
The Baggies are demanding £25million for the forward who fired 20 goals in all competitions last season, and now it is up to chairman Daniel Levy to try and bargain a cheaper price.
With Pochettino having been told to work with what he already has at his disposal, this is perhaps the ‘dream’ XI Tottenham can hope for post deadline day, with Berahino on board.

Hugo Lloris
Tottenham will see it as an achievement in itself that they have managed to hold onto Hugo Lloris for another season at least.
The France captain is certainly good enough to be playing at a club offering regular Champions League football, and both Paris St Germain and Manchester United have been linked.
The former Lyon man has remained loyal for now however, and will be a key player for Pochettino and Spurs over the course of the season.
Toby Alderweireld
The Belgian is one of the club’s more impressive signings this summer.
He is able to play at either right back or in the centre of defence, but is seemingly more of a natural full back.
He was at fault last Saturday during the 2-2 draw with Stoke, when a needless penalty conceded allowed the Potters back into the game.
Never-the-less, he will prove a decent signing over the course of the campaign.
Eric Dier
The man who seems to have a habit of scoring in August.
Dier was on target in the 2-2 draw with Stoke last weekend, and like Alderweireld is capable of playing at full back or centre back.
The young Englishman is still a bit raw, but has the makings of a decent centre back. This season will give us a clearer indication of just how well he will do at White Hart Lane.
Jan Vertonghen
Another player Tottenham have managed to keep against the odds.
The Belgian defender has consistently made noises about joining a Champions League club, but has stayed put at White Hart Lane, and now has the responsibility of being the club’s top defender.
A big season is needed from Vertonghen, who has been struggling for consistency over the past 18 months or so.
Ben Davies
The 22-year-old was signed from Swansea last summer amid much excitement. After a year of settling in at the club, big things are expected of the Welshman this season.
He has shown glimpses of his ability so far, notably last weekend when a superb run and cross set up the second goal for Nacer Chadli in the 2-2 draw with Stoke.
If Davies can produce more of those rampaging runs forward down the left this season, he could prove a bargain signing for Pochettino.
Nabil Bentaleb
The young defensive midfielder has been a virtual ever present under both Tim Sherwood and Mauricio Pochettino.
Whilst Tottenham fans would have liked to have seen someone of the calibre of Morgan Schneiderlin move to fill in that role, the club have kept the faith with their former academy star.
This season it is down to Bentelab to step up and repay that faith, and prove he has a long term future at the club.
Ryan Mason
Another young midfielder that Pochettino seems to have put his faith in.
Mason was impressive last season, and even earnt a call up to the England squad.
Like Bentaleb, this season is about repaying some of that faith and proving he has a long term future at the club.
Adding some more goals and assists to his game would not go amiss either.
Nacer Chadli
The Belgian has been one of the better signings of that fateful 2013 summer transfer window.
Able to operate on either flank or in a more central position, Chadli seems to have got into the habit of scoring goals from midfield, something that will prove crucial this season, with so much of the last campaign spent relying on Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.
Whilst Chadli’s football has continued to improve, his style has severely worsened, with the midfielder currently sporting a contender for the Premier League’s worst haircut.
Christian Eriksen
The Denmark international was born to play in that number 10 role behind two strikers.
Again, Tottenham have done well to keep hold of him, with Italian giants Juventus reportedly interested this summer.
The threat Eriksen offers from set pieces is second to none, and could perhaps be considered the best in the division.
It is vital he stays fit for Tottenham this season, with so much of their attacking play going through the former Ajax man.
Harry Kane
After such a spectacular 2014-15 campaign, the pressure is on Harry Kane to deliver again.
His goals almost single-handedly helped Tottenham challenge for the Champions League last season.
Pochettino knows he can’t rely on the young forward so heavily again, so a strike partner remains the priority before the close of the transfer window.
Saido Berahino
And that man looks likely to be WBA frontman Saido Berahino.
The England under-21 striker fired 20 goals for the Baggies last season, and his pace and running in behind is enough to cause any side problems.
The propsect of both Kane and Berahino linking up and being supplied by Christian Eriksen is a mouth-watering on for Tottenham fans.
