The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern seem a bit all over the place at the moment. They’re excited about the season ahead but still worried about Philippe Coutinho’s possible departure.

Liverpool kick off their 2017/18 Premier League campaign at Vicarage Road against Marco Silva’s Watford in a match where the Reds fans will be expecting a win.

An opening day win can kick start a successful season and put some real power behind Liverpool’s push for their first ever Premier League title.

Liverpool’s high pressing game means their midfield is crucial to the team’s success, similarly to Antonio Conte and his defence, the battles in the centre of the park can win or lose a game for the Reds.

At times in the past Watford have shown they are a side with one or two tricks up their sleeves so Klopp will have to put his best foot forward to ensure a result on Saturday.

Emre Can

At just 23-years-old, Emre Can is rapidly becoming one of the best central midfielders in the league.

His versatility between defence and attack makes him such an important component of the Liverpool side and the German still has his best years ahead of him.

Also, the last time Liverpool were at Vicarage Road Can scored that incredible bicycle kick to win the game for the Reds.

Perhaps he has another bit of magic prepared for the opening day too.

Jordan Henderson

Our landlord will always like to call Jordan Henderson the poor man’s Steven Gerrard and in many meanings of the term, that is true.

However, Henderson’s sheer work rate and determination in a Liverpool shirt make him a favourite of Jurgen Klopp and the captain of the club.

The landlord thinks he is better suited to sitting back whilst the likes of Can have more attacking freedom and should that happen on Saturday, the Watford front line will have a tough time.

Philippe Coutinho

Will he even be a Liverpool player come the opening day of the season?

There is a reason Barcelona want Liverpool’s Brazilian player maker so badly, he is simply one of the best in his position in the world.

With the addition of Mohamed Salah, it is likely Coutinho will occupy a more central role but that just opens up more chances for a few long range screamers so Liverpool fans should be happy about that.
