Liverpool closed the gap on the top four to four points in midweek with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tottenham at Anfield.
Mario Balotelli finally scored his first Premier League goal in a red shirt as the Reds made it an impressive six wins in eight league matches.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have been showing signs of recovery after a disastrous start to the season which saw the Liverpool boss labelled the favourite to lose his job.
But a change to a 3-4-2-1 system and the improved form of summer signings such as Emre Can, Lazar Markovic and Adam Lallana have helped the Reds to get their season back on track.

Raheem Sterling vs Chelsea
Liverpool’s transformation in form has largely come down to Raheem Sterling’s reinvention as a central striker.
The 20-year-old proved his capability in that position in the recent Captial One Cup semi-final against Chelsea.
With the Reds trailing to a first half Eden Hazard penalty, Sterling collected the ball from Jordan Henderson with his back to goal, turned Nemanja Matic and burst past Gary Cahill and into the box, before hitting a superb left footed shot across Thibaut Courtois into the bottom corner, to level the tie for Liverpool.
Adam Lallana vs Swansea City
The England international has looked the part for Liverpool whenever he has featured but niggling injuries have prevented him from a sustained run in the first team.
His best performance in a Red shirt came in the 4-1 win over Swansea City in late December with his second goal particularly special.
Collecting a superb backheel from Philippe Coutinho, Lallana jinked past the final defender before hitting a left footed shot into the bottom corner in front of the Kop.
Steven Gerrard vs FC Basel
In a match in which Liverpool needed to win in order to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League, captain fantastic Steven Gerrard gave the Reds hope with a stunning free kick.
The 34-year-old proved to be the man for the big occasion once more and with the Reds trailing and in need of inspiration, Gerrard curled a fantastic effort over the wall and in off the post.
It didn’t prove enough for Liverpool however who had to settle for third spot and a Europa League place following a 1-1 draw in what proved to be Gerrard’s final Champions League game for the club.
Alberto Moreno vs Tottenham
The Spanish international full back endeared himself to Liverpool fans in only his second game for the club with a stunning goal in the emphatic 3-0 win at Tottenham in August.
Robbing the ball from Andros Townsend in his own half, Moreno excelled forward with the ball into the Tottenham boss before unleashing a rasping left footed strike across Hugo Lloris and in off the post.
In what has been largely considered Liverpool’s best performance of the season, Moreno narrowly misses out on the goal of the season so far.
Adam Lallana vs West Bromwich Albion
And that accolade goes to another summer signing with Adam Lallana’s superb effort against West Bromwich Albion coming out on top.
The £25 million man netted his first goal for the Reds in October with a strike that showed exactly why Liverpool paid the money.
Collecting the ball with a Cruyff turn, Lallana drove forward and exchanged a one-two with Jordan Henderson, with the Liverpool vice captain playing him on in goal with a wonderful first time backheel.
Lallana shifted the ball onto his left foot and drove a shot across the stranded Baggies stopper Ben Foster, going on to celebrate in style.
