Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a managerial change once again at Stamford Bridge this summer, which seems to be the norm nowadays for the Blues.

Antonio Conte’s days seem numbered after a run of just three wins so far this year in the Premier League and slipping out of the top-four, giving up their spot to London rivals Spurs. After suffering back-to-back three-goal deficit defeats for the first time in the Premier League since 1995, the pressure’s been building on the Italian for some months.

Many reports are breaking that former Borussia Dortmund boss, Thomas Tuchel is reportedly set to be lined up as a replacement for Conte as they bid to win the reported war with Arsenal for the German, much to the delight of the Blues in our bar.

If Tuchel does take over at the helm, there should be a few players our punters feel, that will be on their way out of Stamford Bridge. Many have not performed to the maximum this season, and it could be any number of players to leave, however, our landlord takes a look at TWO, in particular, that looks likely to have no future after this season…

Gary Cahill

The England defender hasn’t been up to his own personal high standards this season, and there is a factual rumour flying around the pub to show that Chelsea this campaign are actually better off when Cahill doesn’t play – which is unthinkable.

After taking over from Blues legend John Terry, Cahill was always going to have some big boots to fill and while he is a superb defender, maybe this season with the armband, it has all got too much for him. However, if Tuchel was to come in and see the squad as it is now, there are far better defenders than Cahill.

Olivier Giroud

Even though the former Arsenal striker has only just arrived, perhaps he won’t have a long-term future in west London. A target player may be the polar opposite of what Tuchel had at Dortmund, he was able to lean on the pace and sharp finishing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, something he may want to replicate at the Bridge.

If the Chelsea board are hoping that the German comes in and make them Dortmund-like, players like Giroud are going to have to be sold. Which is unfortunate for the French international, but he would surely not want a repeat of bench warming like he did at the Emirates.
