The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to finally secure an elusive win against Maribor today.
The Reds have struggled to pick up points in recent weeks, but a draw with Man Utd over the weekend did give reason for optimism. Though the Red Devils weren’t exactly set up to win the game, Jurgen Klopp’s men stood firm and remained resilient despite occasional pressure, and they did threaten on occasion.
Maribor, fortunately, will offer a very different level of opposition for Liverpool, and in truth, it’s a game that the Reds should be winning relatively comfortably. With so much quality and depth, Jurgen Klopp won’t have a shortage of options available as he looks to impress.
There are a few players within the Liverpool squad that have been particularly influential, for better or worse, in recent weeks, and it will be interesting to see how they get on against Maribor. They certainly have the ability to have a massive impact on the game, and Klopp would be wise to take note.
With that said, these 2 Liverpool players could make the difference and help secure the win vs Maribor…
Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho is finally back to his best.
After missing Liverpool’s first few games, it was always going to take Coutinho a minute to reach his best form. He didn’t really have much of a pre-season, and any progress that had been made during the off-season was undoubtedly reduced following the saga surrounding his future.
That now looks resolved, though, and Coutinho is sure to have an impact against Maribor. They are likely to sit back and defend, and so if the Brazilian can break down the defence, that will be key.
Dejan Lovren

Dejan Lovren has often been a game changer for Liverpool this season, but far too often it has been for all the wrong reasons. He has been mistake-prone and poor in general, but he looked decent against Man Utd.
Uncharacteristically solid, another performance like that could see Liverpool have very few problems against Maribor.
It’s game that the Reds need to win, and so unnecessary defensive mistakes really need to be avoided. Lovren will undoubtedly have a say in the outcome of this game.
