Jose Mourinho seems to have struggled to have settled on a consistent XI, especially when it comes to the midfield options.
However, their form and performances have been patchy and unconvincing and there are still a lot of places up for grabs in the Red Devils line-up.
Most recently United dropped points at home against Stoke City conceding a late and sloppy equaliser.
With such shaky form, the anti-United brigade have been having a great amount of fun in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Amidst the disappointing results, though, there have been some performances from some players that definitely go under-appreciated and undervalued.
With that said, these 2 Man United players are the most under-appreciated at the club – Agreed?
Ander Herrera
The Spaniard was originally overlooked under Jose Mourinho but after lacklustre displays from some of the other midfielders, Herrera was given his chance and has snapped at the opportunity.
He scored an impressive goal against Northampton Town in the EFL Cup which is a statistical reward for his impressive performances.
Despite his relatively small build, he is rugged and gets stuck in. He loves a good pass but his composure on the ball is all important for United.
Too often for the past 3 seasons, the players have looked uncomfortable on the ball as if they don’t have faith in their own footballing ability.Herrera is quite the opposite of that and makes time and space where there shouldn’t be any.
Antonio Valencia
The 31-year-old Ecuadorian is currently United’s first choice right-back, despite the fact he is more naturally suited to playing right midfield or right winger.
Nevertheless, Mourinho sees fit to play him at right-back and although he is reliable, pacey and strong – he doesn’t actually get the praise he deserves.
Sometimes, just doing the job you were asked is worthy of praise and whilst Valencia may not be an exciting flair player, he is just as important to the balance of the squad as the superstars are.
For a player who prefers to attack to become a right-back takes a lot of hard work and discipline, both features which Valencia has shown in an abundance.
The fact he is keeping the most natural right-back Matteo Darmian out of the team week-in-week-out is phenomenal in itself.
