These 2 players could potentially follow Lukaku to Chelsea in the summer window

The Transfer Tavern has been receiving a lot of noise complaints from it’s neighbours of late and our landlord has had a lot of explaining to do.

Chelsea’s two wins on Friday against West Brom and then Monday against Watford both sparked mass celebrations in the Tavern which meant it was kept open until the early hours to accommodate all the partying. Antonio Conte’s men wrapped up a league title in the Italian’s first season at Stamford Bridge and it safe to say that the Blues’ fans are delighted with Conte’s impact.

However, our landlord has warned that Conte should not rest of his laurels and there is no suggestion in the Tavern that he will, following the rumours – in the Telegraph – circulating that he is looking to sign Everton hitman, Romelu Lukaku in what would be a sensational return to Stamford Bridge for the big Belgian.

It makes sense, then, for Chelsea to bring back a man who has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge. However, this signing is not enough for the resident Chelsea fans in the Tavern and they have been discussing other players they feel should join Lukaku at their club for the new season.

Let’s take a look at the two players that may potentially also join Chelsea this summer…

Alvaro Morata

Imagine that. Costa out, Lukaku and Morata in! Chelsea fans in the Tavern are excited at the prospect of Morata joining their club and it is believed by The Independent that Morata is Conte’s first choice of a new striker.

Of course, it would not be the fairytale of Lukaku but our landlord believes Morata would be a big hit in the Premier League after a very impressive season at Real Madrid despite playing second fiddle to Frenchman, Karim Benzema for much of the season. It is believed that the prospect of first team football could well tempt Morata to join the Blues this summer.

Virgil van Dijk

The Independent also believes that van Dijk could be signed by the Blues.

Although Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill have been impressive at the back for the Blues this season, Champions League football and the departure of captain, John Terry may lead to Antonio Conte looking for more quality in the back-line. Our landlord believes van Dijk would be a major coup for the London club.
