With the Premier League up and running again, the Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their side can make the most of the pressure they’ve applied on the league in the last couple of seasons and finally bring home the title.

Mauricio Pochettino has built a wonderful squad whilst he has been at Tottenham and the club’s move to Wembley may just coincide with a title being won by the Argentine manager.

It is no doubt that Spurs have the players to do so with the club managing to hang on to the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen during a hectic transfer window, there are many in the Tavern who hope that Spurs can bring a title home before these players feel it is time to move on to bigger things should the trophies not come.

However, with the move to Wembley only yielding a defeat to London rivals and a 1-1 draw with Burnley, our landlord has stated it is time for the players to use the international break to prove a point to Pochettino in order to show their manager that they have no problem with playing their home football at Wembley. He has outlined two players who really need to show Pochettino they are ready.

Harry Kane

Spurs’ talisman has not scored a goal yet this season and the Lillywhites in the Tavern are hoping that Kane can get his goal tally up and running for the new season whilst on national duty.

Our landlord agrees and he has said that the longer that Kane goes without scoring, the more unconvincing Spurs will look as they finally look to fill their trophy cabinet this season.

Vincent Janssen

Janssen has been called up to the Netherlands squad despite having a nightmare first year at Spurs and our landlord feels now is the time for the striker to show his worth during the international break.

A goal for the Dutchman will really prove a point to Pochettino and with Harry Kane struggling to find the net at present, he may well worm his way into the first team sooner rather than later.
