The Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern are aiming big next year in their new stadium, after getting a taste of the good stuff over recent seasons. Indeed, having experienced the high life, our local Lilywhites don’t want another season like the first half of this one.

Many in the pub believe it’s about time Spurs upped their levels in the Premier League, despite all their brilliant showings of late. The temporary Wembley residents have certainly flirted with winning the Premier League for a couple of seasons now, but have always crumbled at the last ebbings.

Although this campaign has been largely disappointing until their recent upturn in fortunes, they are now in the top-four places as they enter the last few months of the season – mainly thanks to Chelsea’s demise. Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino would love to win the English title, especially having been so close over the years.

To do that, he needs people to chip in with goals from wider areas. Too often, there is an over-reliance on Harry Kane despite the presence of a number of wide attackers, who could certainly look to Liverpool’s Mo Salah as an inspiration. Talented as he is, why can’t Spurs’ lot do the same?

If this is to happen, our regulars feel that they need some serious ‘Mo Salah’ weekly performances on the pitch from these TWO key players to truly take the step up to the English elite status…

Luca Moura

Pochettino’s new January signing should look to start his Tottenham adventure with a bang next season, after taking this half of the season to get used to life in England. Indeed, Moura had barely featured for PSG at all this season so will need time to dust the cobwebs off.

He will surely be hoping to start as he means to go on with big performances against some of the English elite and his searing pace could help break many defences.

The winger can provide much needed additional firepower up top, and assist Kane in creating chances that many of the regulars think is missing in the Spurs team.

Harry Kane

Obviously, if Kane plays well, Spurs play well. However, the England man needs to make another step up in class, if he is to single handily drive Spurs to the title. While it’s hard to criticise Kane, he needs better service from all around him to give him the chances – much like Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

It’s a true test now for Kane to start putting himself on the pedestal that many of the punters have been doing over the years. If he’s to reach the heights of the aforementioned Ronaldo and Messi, then winning a league title is a must.
