There’s plenty to shout about at Celtic Park these days, and you can definitely tell over in the Hoops end of the Transfer Tavern that things are going pretty well!

Brendan Rodgers has guided his side into the next round of the Champions League, they sit top of the Scottish Premier League with three points from three games, and they’ve got an Old Firm derby to look forward to on the weekend.

So with things looking pretty rosy for the Hoops right now, we want to see if there are any players in the squad that aren’t getting the credit they deserve.

You have your Dembele’s and Brown’s that always seem to be able to write the headlines, but who doesn’t get enough credit in this Celtic side?

We’ve decided to break it down and see which THREE players deserve more credit in this current Celtic side, going into the Rangers match on the weekend…

Leigh Griffiths

Scorer of 37 goals in the SPL last season, Hoops striker Leigh Griffiths gets quite a tough rap from the Celtic supporters here in the Tavern, who expect so much from their prized hitman.

He won the PFA Scotland, Scottish Football Writers and Scottish Premiership Player of the Year awards last season but some still feel he has much to offer.

The one-time Wolves man is a massive part of this Celtic team and much of their good form will be down to how he plays going forward this season.

At 26-years-old, he should be hitting his peak and whilst he’s done exceptionally well so far, expect bigger and better things going forward.

Emilio Izaguirre

A real Celtic veteran, he’s been with the club since 2010.

However, he’s since faded away from the first-team, with new manager Brendan Rodgers preferring youngster Kieran Tierney in the left-back berth.

That doesn’t mean the Honduras international shouldn’t or can’t play a part in the squad this year and he has huge amounts to offer his side, even if he’s not a permanent starter week-after-week.

He’s quick, reads the game well and has over twelve years senior experience.

Craig Gordon

After Dorus De Vries was given his debut in goal against Aberdeen, Celtic fans might feel that regular number one Craig Gordon has been a little underrated in this current set-up.

De Vries was extremely shaky against the Dons and his distribution was poor, despite an eventual 4-1 win.

On the other hand, despite having a two year break from the game in 2012, Craig Gordon has been a real mainstay in the team since his arrival.

He’s a solid, solid option and expect to see more of him than De Vries this season.
