Celtic’s start was to be expected and the Bhoys in the Transfer Tavern are delighted about the way their team have begun the new season.

Brendan Rodgers has done the job asked of him so far and with qualification into Champions League also secured, it’s been a pretty solid start by the Hoops… Well let’s forget about the 7-0 loss to Barca…

They comfortably dispatched Rangers last weekend, in what was a dominant display start to finish from Brendan Rodgers’ side in the Old Firm Derby.

So with everything looking pretty good as far as Celtic are concerned, we want to take a look at those who really deserves praise so far.

Who has really shone and enabled the club to push on to the top of the SPL and help achieve Champions League progress?

Leigh Griffiths

Many were surprised when striker Leigh Griffiths wasn’t given the nod for Scotland against Malta in the interanational break, but it’s safe to say the Celtic forward has made a cracking start to the season.

A fine finish against Aberdeen was his seventh strike of the season, impressive stuff seeing he’s featured only nine times this campaign.

His finishing, ability to move defenders and general goal-scoring will be massive for the Hoops this season.

Tom Rogic

The Australian international forward had a fine season last time out and hasn’t hesitated in picking up where he left off.

Four goals in seven appearances make for good reading for the attacking midfielder. Is also coming into the last year of his current contract so he’ll be looking to earn a bumper deal or impress other sides who could be on the prowl.

James Forrest

A real one-man servant, wide-man James Forrest has been with the Hoops since 2009 and has featured over 200 times.

Has started this season well, scoring on three occasions and like the other two in this list, dispatched a goal of real quality against Aberdeen last weekend in a 4-1 victory.

The Dons, as well as Rangers, were thought to be the closest thing to challengers this season and they were ruthlessly put to the sword by Forrest and co, who cut through them with relative ease.

The 13-time Scottish international will be keen to continue his good start going into the Old Firm next weekend. What a tie it’s going to be.
