The Liverpool supporters here in the Transfer Tavern haven’t been overwhelmed by their club’s start to the season – but they’re an optimistic bunch and they reckon things could come good by the end of the campaign.
Even the landlord has tipped the Reds to do well this season, with Jurgen Klopp now in control of a squad that he has chosen to bring in this summer.
And they’ve been busy – the likes of Sadio Mane, Joel Matip and Georginio Wijnaldum have all joined Anfield this summer, and the real judging of Klopp begins now.
And whilst some of his players have started the season with a real bang, some have begun with a slight whimper, with some Reds fans questioning whether or not some first-team pros have the bottle needed to bring the club success.
So today, we’re here to take a look at the three Liverpool players that are seriously out of their depth- agree with our list?
Nathaniel Clyne
Perhaps one of the more surprising names on this list, Nathaniel Clyne really hasn’t been at the races at all this season.
Normally known as one of the most consistent players in this Liverpool squad, Clyne had a bit of a shocker against Burnley, with his slack pass giving Sam Vokes the chance to give the Clarets the lead.
He also went missing for Spurs’ equaliser the following week and his attacking spark has been missing at times too.
If this was Alberto Moreno, he’d be getting slaughtered so there is no reason why the former Saints man shouldn’t have his fair share of criticism too.

It was only a matter of time before this man cropped on our list and Alberto Moreno is one player that has looked like he could drown this season – he’s been so out of his depth.
The £12million signing from Sevilla was absolutely crucified for his performance against Arsenal on the opening day of the campaign and unsurprisingly, we’ve seen him dropped with James Milner filling in at full-back.
He’s looked poor, out of position and completely unsure of his own ability, and most worryingly – we’re only three games in.
Our landlord thinks that he seriously needs to pick his game.
Georginio Wijnaldum
A huge £25million summer signing from Newcastle, Georginio Wijnaldum hasn’t been horrendous so far this season but has looked far too passive in the Liverpool midfield.
He had a real chance to star as Liverpool began with a bang, but he was one of the limpest performers in the Liverpool side that beat Arsenal – before looking extremely ineffective against Burnley.
He’s been signed to make things happen and provide a real spark going forward, and so far, he just hasn’t found it.
This is a big club with fans who will be expecting a strong season and Wijnaldum needs to pick up the pace.
