Our resident Liverpool fans here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are excited about the new upcoming Premier League campaign.
The Reds have looked promising in pre-season so far, and comfortably dispatched Football League outfit Fleetwood Town 5-0, with new signing Grujic getting on the scoresheet.
Every season we see stars emerge and well and truly breakthrough and become top stars – All you need to look at is the likes of Dele Alli and Eric Dier last season.
Liverpool have a large squad that is full to the brim of talent, and our landlord here in the Tavern thinks there will be some surprise players who will emerge and become big players for the Merseyside outfit going forwards.
After a lengthy debate with the Reds regulars here in the Tavern, our landlord has compiled a list of THREE Liverpool players who could surprise a lot of people next season…….
Joel Matip
The 24-year-old was one of Klopp’s first signings in the summer, and he has the potential to succeed at Anfield.
The former Schalke centre-back will be relatively unknown to most Premier League fans, and there is no reason why Matip can’t come in and really make the centre-back position his own at the club.
His vast experience in the Bundesliga will be incredibly beneficial for him, and ultimately our landlord thinks Matip could be someone who will surprise a lot of people next season.
Danny Ings
The former Burnley striker found it hard to break into the first-team last season, mainly due to a serious injury that he picked up.
The 23-year-old has all the attributes needed to become a top striker in the Premier League, and if given a consistent run of games under Klopp next season, Ings could well and truly surprise many people.
Our landlord feels that Ings has the potential to become a 20+ goal a season striker, and says next season could be Ings’ year!
Sheyi Ojo
With Jordan Ibe departing the club for AFC Bournemouth, Ojo could be the man to fill the void left by the winger.
At just 19, Ojo has a large proportion of his playing career left and could excel under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp next season.
The midfielder enjoyed a loan spell at Sky Bet Championship side Wolves last season, and was impressive for Kenny Jackett’s side – chipping in with several assists and goals.
