Manchester United’s academy is renowned for producing players capable of breaking into the first-team.

Our locals here at the Transfer Tavern remain convinced their academy is the best in the world, and with some of the players at their disposal it’s difficult to argue really.

Not since the 1930’s have United not had a player in their match-day squad who didn’t come through the infamous United academy.

Currently Jesse Lingard is flying the flag for the United youngsters and recently he made his England debut.

The next crop of talent to come through United’s academy are prosperous and despite the insignificant contribution of previous managers to their domestic success, youth players have been at the forefront.

Our landlord has taken a look at THREE players who could be worth MASSIVE money in 5 years time….

Tahith Chong

His Dutch nationality and crazy hairsyle have seen Chong likened to former Dutch great Ruud Guiltt.

Chong was signed from Feyenoord this summer, as United fought off a number of suitors to land the 16-year-old from the Eredivisie club.

Feyenoord are renowned for their youth academy and Chong can become another Dutch icon, as his play down the wings has become sensational if almost dashing to watch at times.

His appearance will make you look twice, but his ability on the ball will not make you turn away. Chong will be a star!

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Another Dutch star, Fosu-Mensah was given his Old Trafford debut by Louis van Gaal last season.

Still only a teenager, Mensah has the ability to play in a number of positions.

His athleticism and ability to defend have ensured him as one of the club’s hottest young prospects.

Many of our locals have called for Mourinho to play the Dutchman more regularly.

With the ability Mensah has, in five years time it may be a scary prospect to think what he could achieve.

The central defender is potentially the next Rio Ferdinand according to many United supporting punters here in the Tavern.

Tuanzebe was on the bench for the first-team last season on a number of occasions but injuries prevented him from making the step up.

Jose Mourinho played him in a friendly this summer against Wigan and was quick to praise the defender.

With the manager keen, it seems only a matter of time before we see this starlet make his first-team debut.
