Manchester United have been very active already this summer, since the arrival of the new ‘special one’ Jose Mourinho.
He seems to have brought back the feeling amongst our punters and bar staff a like that United could well be back amongst it, for the first time since Sir Alex left Old Trafford.
He has already managed to bring in the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. However we believe that the Red Devils business isn’t finished yet…
Our landlord has heard in the last few days that they have set their radar on Southampton centre-back and captain Jose Fonte!
The 32-year-old would offer the experience they lack at centre half at the moment and with it being known Southampton aren’t afraid to sell if the price is right; this deal could be completed soon. So with Fonte as their next arrival… Who could follow him to the theatre of dreams? Here’s three….
Fábio Henrique Tavares (Fabinho)
The right back position lacks quality at United with Antonio Valencia currently playing out position to fill the spot…with that being said however they do have an actual out and out RB in the form of Matteo Darmian …who unfortunately hasn’t really been as expected since his arrival from Torino he even was dropped at the expense of Fosu- Mensah under Van Gaal.
It also appears Darmian is set for the exit with Napoli apparently interested.
It is also well documented that the 22-year-old Brazilian is a wanted man and that Jose would love to bring him in having expressed their interest in the Monaco player… It would appear to the punters here that this is a logical addition to the squad!
William Carvalho
The Portuguese 24 year old – defensive midfielder; was at the heart of the midfield that helped Portugal to win Euro 2016 over the summer.
He has been linked to a number of clubs in England amongst them Leicester City.
But the bar staff here feel he’d be a perfect fit for United.
With the poor performing Daley Blind who looks like a move to Inter could be an option… As well as the ageing Carrick, this would be a perfect time to bring in Carvalho and integrate him into the heart of the United midfield.
Mauro Icardi
The Internazionale captain has been linked with a move to a number of clubs around England, but we here at the tavern feel that the Argentine could slot perfectly into the Mourinho regime at United.
He has a great ability to find the back of net and lead from the front which United have lacked since the exit of Robin Van Persie!
Although The Red Devils have managed to bring in Zlatan they also need to look a head with one eye on the future and they may also already have Martial and Rashford as striking options ,but Icardi like Ibra is an out and out centre forward and would fit in nicely between the two Wingers at Old Trafford.
