‘The impossible dream’, ‘the fairytale’, ‘un-thinkable’. Leicester City winning the Premier League last season was the single greatest sporting triumph of the year, probably the decade and maybe ever, and Foxes fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are still celebrating.
The plucky underdogs took home English football’s greatest prize at the end of the 2015/16 Premier League season, only one year after scraping through a relegation battle that saw The Foxes go unbeaten in 8 of their last 9 games to secure their spot in the top flight for the next season.
After seeing that, no one would have predicted the unlikeliest of Premier League victories to come from Claudio Ranieri’s side. However as the old saying goes, ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’. has Leicester City’s form run out? or will their class shine through?
The only thing more difficult than winning the Premier League title, is to win it again. So get ready Leicester fans because here are the 3 key players who will ensure the impossible dream lives on.
Jamie Vardy

Did you really think this man wouldn’t make the list? Jamie Vardy turned down Arsenal to stay with The Foxes and although Arsenal may not be considered the biggest club in England, it would have still been a huge move for him.
The 29-year-old turning the North London club down means only one thing, he believes Leicester can do it again. With 24 goals last season (including a record breaking run of scoring 11 games in a row) were instrumental in getting Leicester to the top of the mountain, and keeping them there.
The England international is sure to go down as a legend at the King Power stadium and if he has a similar sort of season and leads the line in another title winning season for Leicester, then he is sure to go down as a Premier League legend as well.
Kasper Schmeichel

Like father, like son. The greatest Premier League keeper of all time, Peter Schmeichel’s son has followed in his fathers footsteps by winning the league title. If and it’s a big if, Leicester can keep hold of the Danish shot stopper then he can and will play a key role in a potential second league win in a row for his side.
He’s tall, strong, agile and only conceded 36 goals last season. You can tell his father taught him well and if he stays with Claudio Ranieri’s side he will be hoping to repeat more of his father’s achievements by picking up another league title.
Nampalys Mendy

N’Golo Kante looks to be on his way out of the King Power stadium, so why not purchase a carbon copy of not only Kante but, according to Monaco club scout Didier Christophe, a carbon copy of the legendary Claude Makelele.
The sweeping role the Frenchman played last season had a huge part to play in their eventual title win. Mendy is a similar sort of player, he’s small but strong, reliable and consistent and can pick up the ball and create something from nothing.
Maybe a little more of an attacking player than the may he may replace, but with the right coaching and play time in the holding midfield position then the 24-year-old Frenchman can be a key player in Leicester’s attempt to retain their Premier League title.
Foxes fans, we want to hear from you! Do you agree with our choices? Will these three have to be on top form to give you any chance of retaining your title? Let us know below…
