These 3 Tottenham players are incredibly underrated – Agreed?

Tottenham are a Champions League club now, so naturally there’s going to be a lot more scrutiny on them, none more so from their fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern.

Our local Spurs punters are quietly confident of getting out of their group in Europe’s premier club competition and think players like Harry Kane are going to absolutely excel at that level.

It makes sense to think that of course, Kane is a top level striker and didn’t win the Golden Boot in the Premier League last year by chance, but he certainly couldn’t have done it alone.

The whole team were fantastic last year as Dele Alli also drew a lot of plaudits for his debut Premier League season as well as Toby Alderweireld for his heroics at the back – but our landlord thinks the praise shouldn’t end there.

He thinks THREE more players should be given extra special mention at least and here they are, what do you think?

Mousa Dembele

The Belgian is top drawer and deserves every accolade.

He makes a huge difference to Spurs’ team and quite frankly when he’s out of the side they look far less threatening.

He’s been missing from the club’s opening Premier League matches through suspension, but once he’s back he’ll no doubt walk into the side and help them compete both in Europe and at home.

Eric Dier

Every class player needs a foil and that’s what Dier is to Dembele.

The England man showed at EURO 2016 that he’s more than just a holding player too with his free kick and he’ll hopefully show more of that this year.

Dele Alli got the attention as Spurs’ wonder kid but Dier was just as influential in their run to European qualification and will be again this year in the competition.

Jan Vertonghen

Alderweireld was arguably the league’s best defender last year but would he have been without his compatriot Vertonghen?

Their partnership is telepathic at times and if Spurs want to go better than last year they’ll have to be right at it once more.

Goes about his job quietly, the Belgian star is undoubtedly underrated.
