Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see their side climb up the table in the second half of the season into the top four.

WIth Spurs currently sitting adrift in the league from the top four, Pochettino needs a good start to the second half of the season. Many of his players have been with him on the incredible journey that has seen Spurs transform into title contenders in recent years and, for that to continue, there needs to be some winter expenditure.

However, this season things aren’t gelling like they have been in recent years, and they look like they are to rely on their main man Harry Kane to push them forward far too often. Indeed, that’s been a problem for a while now.

If Spurs are to give a good account of themselves in both the League and Europe, the Argentine coach needs to start to invest in some quality squad depth according to our regulars.

With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at three potential players, Daniel Levy could look at bringing to the club this January…

Wilfried Zaha

The Crystal Palace winger has been in sparkling form of late and is one of the main reasons behind Palace’s recent Premier League resurgence.

Although he didn’t quite make it at Old Trafford, the decision to opt for a return back to The Eagles seems to be paying off. Following a string of outstanding performances in the Premier League, the Ivory Coast international is looking back to the majestic talent that earnt him a move to United in the first place.

A move to Spurs would see Zaha make the step up in level once again and you’d think this time he’d be better prepared to fully take his chance.

Gareth Bale

The former Spurs winger has had a fair few good years over in Spain with Real Madrid following his record-breaking move. In recent months, the Welsh wizard seems to have fallen out of favour with the supporters amidst a string of injuries.

A move back to the Premier League has long been linked with him since the move to Spain and it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see him grace an English pitch once again in the near future.

A quality addition on the level of Bale could be a stroke of genius as Spurs look to re-establish themselves among England’s elite.

Ross Barkley

In the summer window, Barkley nearly made the move to Chelsea over Spurs but it ended up being a deadline day disaster. Barkley nearly secured a move to Stamford Bridge before pulling out on medical grounds due to his then injury, much to the delight of our local Lillywhites.

If Spurs were to go back in for Barkley this January, they could secure his services on the cheap before his contract runs out in the summer.

Barkley would make a great signing due to the fact he’d be eligible for the Champions League knockout stages and he’ll want to push for a World Cup spot so his need to impress on the second half of the season will be high on his priority list.
