These Leeds fans have slated Marcelo Bielsa for his post-match comments

Leeds United remain top of the Championship table despite suffering a second consecutive defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest on New Year’s day.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have let their standards slip in recent days and given the supporters plenty of food for thought now that the January transfer window has reopened.

Injury concerns have plagued the club throughout the season and forced plenty of supporters to call for fresh acquisitions this month, despite Bielsa’s strong stance on keeping his squad tight-knit and utilising top graduates of the Thorp Arch academy.

Defeat against Forest saw Leeds ship four goals on a difficult start to 2019 for the club but the result has not forced Bielsa to shift the narrative which he has consistently peddled since taking charge.

In the aftermath of the defeat at Forest, Bielsa claimed that Leeds are in good shape defensively and cited their problems at dealing with set-pieces as the most pressing issue as opposed to the personnel he has at his disposal.

But the Leeds supporters were left bewildered by his comments and slated him for his perspective, with many rightly citing the importance of set-pieces, especially in the Championship, to undermine his post-match comments.

I have to agree that this is a pretty ridiculous statement. In Bielsa we trust but such a stupid thing to say.
