As the Daniel Sturridge saga shows, there’s so much more about Liverpool than one individual right now. For the punters in the Transfer Tavern, that’s very good news indeed. 

Having waited for the England man to return from injury for so long in order to lift the Reds back up the league, Jurgen Klopp’s arrival has changed the dynamic at Anfield.

Still, as much as there is a feeling the Merseyside titans are all in this together, Klopp will need to rely on key individuals if he is to truly land the club a first Premier League title.

Clearly, the former Borussia Dortmund coach has found a system worthy to challenge the top order at last, though there’s little doubt the continued presence of some trusty lieutenants is beyond key to their chances.

As much as you’ll find the Reds propping up the bar waxing poetic about their devastating frontline, Joel Matip’s signing in defence has worked wonders.

Granted, set-pieces remain an issue, though the classy Cameroonian looks like a lynchpin in the rearguard already.
