These 3 Man United players could have a surprise chance in Sam Allardyce’s England squad

The Saga is over, Big Sam has finally been announced as England’s new manager and with this new appointment, some of the punters here in The Football Transfer Tavern reckon that Allardyce may want to shake the squad up after the dismal summer.

Another newly appointed manager this summer is Jose Mourinho at Man United. Since the Portuguese manager joined the Red Devils he has come out publicly to say that he will try and prioritise the English players so the national side will have something to work with, which is encouraging.

The man who left Sunderland to take the role will have a lot to think about in terms of his selection for the World Cup Qualifiers and will more than likely want to experiment with his new side, if that is the case then there are a few players who may get get a surprising look in over the coming season.

With that being said, all you England or Man United fans drinking at the Tavern tonight, sit back and relax as we go through the 3 surprising Man United players who could get a chance in Big Sam’s side.

Jesse Lingard

JESSE LINGARD

It’s hard to call Lingard being called up a surprise, but with so many top quality players coming through into the national side it’s difficult to see where he would fit in.

The 23-year-old got his chance in the United side last season thanks to a flood of injuries across the first team and he absolutely took his opportunity. He became a key part of Van Gaal’s team and even scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final with a stunning volley against Crystal Palace.

He’s got pace, skill and he is building up a certain level of experience after becoming a first team Regular. The winger could become a key player for Allardyce’s England side given the opportunity and you have to think that the boss will look to give the likes of Lingard exactly that, an opportunity.

Tyler Blackett

Another young prospect for the national side, Tyler Blackett is a defender that could be that rock which England so desperately need at the back.

The Versatile defender has represented England at every youth level, however he is also eligible to play for Barbados and Jamaica so maybe Allardyce will get him those first few caps to ensure he will be an England player for years to come.

Right now the 22-year-old’s lack of experience would make him a very surprising pick for Big Sam’s side, however it wouldn’t be impossible.

Michael Carrick

You’ve got to feel sorry for Michael Carrick at times, a fantastic centre midfielder during his 10 years at Man United but unfortunately for him he has been playing at a time where Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have been lining up for the national side, arguably two of the best in their position to ever play the game.

Even now, during the lowest point in United’s recent history the 34-year-old has been one of the few players who has kept his effort and performance levels high. The former Spurs man would bring that much needed experience to Allardyce’s England side whose only real experienced player is the captain, Wayne Rooney.

A fantastic player whose distribution to the front men is second to none, even as he begins to drop into a deeper position as he gets older. Michael Carrick would be a very handy player for the new boss to have in his squad.
