Tottenham Hotspur received the best possible send-off from their beloved White Hart Lane, as they managed to secure the presence of Champions League football for yet another season in North London.

After being filled with disappointment in their last European campaign after a group stage exit, Mauricio Pochettino and his current squad were most certainly looking to eradicate lightning striking twice.

But Spurs fans here in the Tavern feared the worst as their side was drawn into the ‘group of death’ containing previous finalist Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, two sides seemingly destined for the knockout stages.

Yet in the same manner that has seen the Pochettino legacy amount his Tottenham side as regular Champions League customers, he managed to rally his troops to overcome the challenges of both Borussia Dortmund and world champions Real Madrid with flying colors, having completed their legs against the giants with an unbeaten streak and 13 points to show for it.

Fanatics here in the Tavern believe that after beating the best team in the world, there’s no reason for them not to go all the way, right?

With confidence brimming high and a date in the knockout stages jotted down in the calendar, the January transfer window could pose an added importance in the Wembley outfit giving themselves the best possible chance of bringing the goods back to the English capital.

Therefore, here’s a look at TWO world stars that could implement the European dream…

Edinson Cavani

Uruguay’s deadly striker has been knocking in the goals for his current club Paris Saint Germain ever since he joined the side back in 2013, which has become evident in his goal-scoring record drawing similarities to some of the world’s best.

103 goals in 145 appearances for the club sees him top off a very similar goals-to-games ratio to Tottenham’s most prolific striker Harry Kane. Continuing the trend this season has become something of an easy task for the PSG striker, providing 21 goals in just the 18 appearances in all competitions for the French outfit.

But most notably, he’s shown that he can do it on a regular basis in Europe’s most demanding competition, as he takes his place joint second on the Champions League top scorers list with Tottenham man Harry Kane.

So with the striker in the midst of a constant rift with Brazilian Neymar, perhaps a move to Wembley could be a viable option for the striker.

Lorenzo Insigne

The Italian has always been renowned as one of the future stars of world football since his breakthrough in the U21 championships for his national side.

Now finding himself as a permanent feature for Napoli, he’s begun to really progress over the course of the past couple of seasons, to become what is one of Europe’s best attacking players.

His current side have really struggled to produce a run of form in this years competition, and now find their current Champions League status in tatters, with them relying on other results in the remaining fixture to go their way.

But the rapid winger has been without a doubt one of the best players in the whole of the group stage, having already notched himself 3 goals in the group stages with a few notable worldies in the process.

With the addition of the attacker, Spurs will be getting a player who loves to score and take on his opponents, combined with a scary amount of pace that the current Pochettino side is lacking in the final third.
