The Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a little bit of a clear out, should Alexis Sanchez come through the Old Trafford door this January.
Make no mistake about it, if the Chilean does sign on the dotted line for the Red Devils, then our local Mancunians can expect to see a fair few exits this remaining transfer window. United have long needed a player who can comfortably play on the left side of the midfield while allowing Rashford and Martial the chance to play in their favoured centre of the park roles.
With a signing of Sanchez’s stature and class, it’s sure to knock a few noses out of joint and the fringe players will be surely looking to move on.
Our bar staff have been running a bit of a poll inside the Tavern this dinner time to get a feel for the few players that many of the regulars expect to leave, our landlord whittles it down to two that he feels desperately need to go…
Maraoune Fellaini

The Belgian is reported to be locked in talks with the United board over a new contract extension, however, his current deal runs out in the summer and there seem many a club interested in his services, which will be welcome news to many of the United fans in the pub.
With the possible arrival of Sanchez, it pushes two more players into the centre of the midfielder, and with places already at a premium, it would seem Fellaini could fall down the pecking order further.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan

The creative midfielder has had an up and down journey at Old Trafford in his short 18-month career with the Red Devils. Having seemingly lost confidence and form in recent months it looks as if Mourinho is open to the Armenian exiting this January.
A couple of swap moves have been talked about alongside possible loan moves, but as of yet nothing concrete seems to be happening. A move out of the door may be the best thing for the midfielder at this moment in time to rediscover his form.
