Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping the rumours about a former great in the Premier League are true.

In the latest link away from Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo is being cited with a possible move to Stamford Bridge as he seeks a way out of Spain, supposedly. Our regulars have been taking this one in and are wondering how Chelsea could be transformed with the former Man United superstar coming back to the Premier League, having won everything he possibly can.

The old-timers in the tap room would love to see him on the Chelsea pitch but are discussing at what cost, if Ronaldo does come to Stamford Bridge, then who goes out of the door is the big question floating around.

With his infamous pen and paper readied, the landlord takes a look at a couple of players that would need to leave if CR7 left Madrid for the Blues…

Eden Hazard

The Belgian winger has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, so it would seem that this would be a straight swap of players for the two teams should the move be sanctioned. Hazard is a younger version of Ronaldo and no doubt the Blues would be getting a fantastic player but at 32, Madrid would be the ones that’ll benefit the most.

Hazard would be a huge loss but there wouldn’t be enough room in the team for both of them, and with contract talks stalling Hazard looks a shoe-in to go.

Michy Batshuayi

The Belgian is yet to properly find his feet at Stamford Bridge despite sparks of striking prowess during his stay. It doesn’t take a lot for the regulars in the bar to realise that Batshuayi isn’t one of Conte’s first choices when it comes to match day, with the former Marseille man often overlooked.

With that in mind, if Ronaldo did come to the Bridge, it would mean less playing time for the striker and fall further down the pecking order.
