The Red Devils here in the Tavern are looking for some inspiration after accepting that the Premier League title is now very much out of reach. 

Manchester United have never been afraid to spend big in the transfer market having spent a whopping £630 million since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013.

Although they’ve managed to acquire all these new players with a huge amount of money being spent in the process, as a club they’re yet to achieve a top 2 finish, which just goes to show that the money may not have been spent as well as people think.

Therefore, currently sitting in 2nd position at this moment in time, there’s no doubt that Jose Mourinho will look to go big in the transfer window once again, in order to cement their current position, and force a push towards Champions League glory.

So, with there being possible departures in attacking areas due to some of their former star’s becoming out of favour, it leaves room for Mourinho to recruit some worthy replacements.

Step right up, Christian Pulisic. The 19-year-old winger has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as they look to eye-up the starlet after his impressive form over in Germany.

Offering some mind-blowing talents at such a young age, his pace and dribbling abilities are two aspects of his game that draw comparisons, to the great Lionel Messi.

Nevertheless, with United looking to acquire two players in January, here’s a look at TWO other stars who could follow him to Manchester.

 Luka Modric

The 32-year-old has been one of Croatia’s most recognized star’s in the whole of world football, after pulling off some of the most outrageous passing displays in the modern game.

As he continues to prove an influential part of the Los Blancos side he’s managed to feature in 20+ games in all competitions, on his way to accumulating 1 goal and 2 assists in an attack dominated side.

However, with Real Madrid looking less than convincing in Europe and domestically this season, reports in the Daily Star suggest that Modric is unsure on where his future lies, which has sparked an enquiry from United.

Gareth Bale

The former Tottenham attacker has established himself as one of the world’s best since joining current side Real Madrid, after being influential in winning the Champions League on multiple occasions and a La Liga title with the Spanish giants.

However, after succumbing to an injury it’s really halted the progress of the attacker as well as his status at the club, after only managing to make 12 appearances in a short-lived season so far.

Therefore, with Manchester United player’s reportedly expecting either Antoine Griezmann or Gareth Bale to sign for the club in January, it looks like an incredible time to be a United fan.

But having seen the sheer quality that the forward can possess at any given moment, they’ll jump at the bit to bring him to Manchester in January.
