This potential January transfer swoop hints at Klopp’s long-term Liverpool thinking

The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are buzzing with the news emerging over a recent World Cup winner.

Jurgen Klopp’s reign at Liverpool hasn’t been as successful as maybe he’d liked and maybe more the fans here in the Tavern would have hoped for, especially after the reputation he built at Borussia Dortmund and there’s no doubt Klopp has built an exciting and dangerous forward line which sometimes has to compensate for the soft defence this season.

The German’s insistence on bringing in attacking flair is once again coming to the forefront this January with a potential winter move for highly-rated attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White from current Championship leaders Wolves. The England u17 World Cup winner has hugely impressed our punters, alongside the likes of Tottenham & Arsenal but it’s surely Liverpool who’ll feel like they have the upper hand, with his World Cup teammate Rhian Brewster coming through the ranks at the same time.

The chief barman thinks Klopp has an abundance of talent in the front six positions of the team but with the potential acquisition of Gibbs-White, it signals that the Red’s boss is planning for the years to come, as he looks to build a trophy challenging team.

The 17-year-old only made his debut this year for Wolves in the EFL Cup, but his stock quickly rose during the World Cup win recently with the under 17’s and his contract is to due to expire in 2019.

With that in mind, it may be possible that Wolves will look to cash in as the Premier League teams start to circle and reportedly being valued at £5m, it would be a shrewd investment given the current spending climate.

You can only feel it’s a matter of time before Coutinho makes his move to Barcelona and, if Klopp acts quickly, our Landlord feels he could secure a more than capable long-term replacement for the Brazilian.

Thoughts?
