On Wednesday, Tottenham host struggling Hull City at White Hart Lane with their supporters here in the Transfer Tavern confident of a big win against the team who currently have the leakiest defence in the league.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team are unbeaten at home in the Premier League this season with two draws and an impressive five wins with our landlord thinking it could, then, be a long night for The Tigers.

Harry Kane is flying this season with seven goals in ten appearances and the England international might just add to his two previous hat-tricks in the Premier League.

The fixtures will come thick and fast over the Christmas period and here by the bar we expect ‘Poch’ to rotate some of his players for this midweek fixture following the game against Man Utd.

Despite a decent start to the season Hull City have become cannon fodder at times since, but Spurs will need to be mindful that they do not underestimate the team who are fighting for their Premier League survival.

Another crucial game for Spurs, then, and our landlord thinks this line-up will take the three points…

GK: Hugo Lloris

Arguably Tottenham’s best ever goalkeeper. The Frenchman is in fine form and surely has to be the first name on the team-sheet.

At 29, Lloris is in his prime and could be the key to Spurs’ ambitions to reach the top four this season.

RB: Kyle Walker

The England international is an ever present this season and is a modern full back; an excellent defender and capable of providing support in attack.

Kieran Trippier could be deployed in this position but he would be a risk given how well Adama Diomande is playing for Hull City of late.

CB: Toby Alderweireld

The big Belgian is a vital player for ‘Poch’; he is a ball playing centre back and will look to feed the channels early to ignite quick counter attacks.

Alderweireld is a huge reason why Spurs have such a good defensive record, in fact they have only conceded eleven goals this season (the same as Chelsea).

CB: Jan Vertonghen

His partnership with Alderweireld is the best in the Premier League right now and when these guys are playing together Spurs look impenetrable.

Vertonghen is a no nonsense defender making on average 9.4 clearances per game and at 29 (with 85 Belgian caps) adds real experience to the Tottenham team.

LB: Ben Davies

Our landlord expects ‘Poch’ to rest Danny Rose in this game due to the fixture pile up and the Welsh defender is more than capable of filling those rapid boots.

Davies was part of the Welsh international team who performed so well at this year’s Euros.

CDM: Eric Dier

Dier’s versatility is a huge advantage for Spurs; the England international can be deployed in a variety of positions and appears to excel in the holding midfield role.

A leader on the pitch and a truly intelligent player.  At just 22, Dier will get even better and many of the punters at the Transfer Tavern see him as a future England captain.

CDM: Victor Wanyama

The Kenyan powerhouse will add power and aggression alongside Dier and his main job will be to nullify Robert Snodgrass, who is Hull’s stand out player this season.

Wanyama is a favourite of ‘Poch’ having rejoined him from Southampton this season.

RAM: Christian Eriksen

The Danish play-maker is in sensational recent form in the Premier League scoring three goals and providing four assists.

Eriksen has made an average of 2.6 key passes per game, this season, more than any other player in the team.

CAM: Dele Alli

Alli is a real fan-favourite; his work rate is incredible and his ability to drive at the opposition causes real issues.

At just 20 it is easy forget how far he has come in such a short space of time. Alli is now an England regular and a key player at Tottenham after shining at MK Dons between 2011 and 2015.

LAM: Moussa Sissoko

Much has been said about the French international of late and whilst he hasn’t had the greatest start to the season this could be the right game at the right time to ignite his Tottenham career.

At Newcastle, Sissoko proved he has the ability to play in the Premier League and it is only a matter of time before he starts to justify his £30m price tag.

ST: Harry Kane

Kane has returned from injury and looks in frightening form; seven goals in ten appearances means that he is the man Hull City have to stop if they are to have any hope of securing a positive result on Wednesday.

Our landlord believes Kane still has much to prove on the international stage but in the Premier League there is no better English striker right now.
