Three Euro 2016 semi-finalists on Liverpool’s radar

The Football Transfer Tavern has been rammed over the last few weeks with Euro 2016 keeping the bar busy night after night. But now the tournament is nearing completion, fans are starting to turn their attention to which players have impressed and could be headed for their club.

Euro 2016 has been an interesting watch not just for fans, but also Premier League managers, as players prove their worth on the international stage.

We have seen a mixture of those expected to relish at the opportunity of European glory, as well as some unexpected hidden gems who have placed themselves in the shop window.

Liverpool are one club who will be looking to bolster their squad with some depth and quality this summer, and Jurgen Klopp will be keeping an eye on the Semi-Finals to look for possible recruits.

Liverpool fans in the bar have been gathered in a booth in the bar for the last few hours and, over a few pints of TT Ale and a couple of bags of crisps, they have compiled a little wish-list of Semi-Finalists, for Mr. Klopp to take a look at, over to you Jurgen…

Mario Gotze

Although overlooked by Joachim Low in the European finals so far, after being replaced by Mario Gomez in the starting XI, Mario Gotze still remains an exceptional talent that Liverpool may look at this summer.

With Gomez’s injury against Italy, the 24-year-old could receive a recall to the starting XI, with a chance to put himself at the top of Liverpool’s transfer list.

A reunion with Jurgen Klopp would be exciting for any Liverpool fan, after the success the pair had at Borussia Dortmund before the attacking midfielder left for Bayern Munich in 2013.

Perhaps Germany’s Semi-Final with France could be the perfect opportunity for the forward to show his former boss why he is the second most expensive German player to date.

Ashley Williams

Wales have been taking the Euro’s by storm this summer, having cemented their place in the Semi-Finals on Friday after an emphatic display against Belgium.

Swansea centre back, Ashley Williams has been at the core of that success leading the defensive line as the Wales captain.  Not to mention that superb headed equaliser against Belgium.

With Kolo Toure leaving Merseyside this summer, and Martin Skrtel rumoured to be nearing an exit, Klopp will be looking for some established Premier League talent to fill the defensive void.

And who better than a boyhood Liverpool fan coming off the back of an inspiring European campaign.

Moussa Sissoko

Moussa Sissoko: £1.8m

French Semi-Finalist, Moussa Sissoko, is probably not a name Liverpool fans would have expected to see linked this summer, having struggled with consistency at Newcastle over recent seasons.

However the French international has shown what he is really capable of during the tournament, earning himself a starting spot in the quarter final 5-2 victory against Iceland.

Although he remains a controversial player amongst fans, perhaps France’s Euro 2016 success can provide Sissoko with the confidence he needs to fulfil his potential.

Klopp will be keeping a close on eye on him for the upcoming Semi-Final against Germany.
