The debate of whether Wayne Rooney is good enough to carry on playing for Manchester United has been done to death now, particularly amongst the fans in the Transfer Tavern.

With his form fading for club and country, the striker seems to be spending more time on the bench than actually playing the game, a lot of punters in the Tavern reckon his time is up.

He might not be the only one heading out of Old Trafford either, with Jose Mourinho seemingly losing faith in a number of players.

The Portuguese has already made the unpopular decision to alienate Bastian Schweinsteiger, sending the German World-Cup winner to train with the reserves.

It seems highly likely the 32-year-old won’t be the only player to be given such harsh treatment, with Mourinho not known for giving too many second chances.

Rooney may well head through the Old Trafford exit to get some more playing time as Old Father Time looks to have caught up with a man touted as the man to take England to the next level.

Here are THREE other players we think may join him.

MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN

Considering United had been screaming out for a holding midfielder in the first few weeks of the season, it’s a wonder Morgan Schneiderlin hasn’t been given more playing time.

The Frenchman has only seen five minutes of Premier League action this year, with Mourinho preferring to field him for weakened sides in the EFL Cup or Europa League.

Schneiderlin had a mixed first season at Old Trafford after his £24m move from Southampton but has previously proved himself among the league’s best defensive midfielders and is still good enough for a top-half club.

MEMPHIS DEPAY

It’s hard to know where it’s all gone wrong for Memphis Depay.

The Dutchman looked like he was going to be the next big thing when he arrived at Old Trafford off the back of a 22-goal season at PSV Eindhoven.

He struggled to click with the club under Louis van Gaal, firing a number of long-range efforts high and wide of the target and contributing little else.

Having been in England for 12 months some fans at the Tavern thought Depay may have adapted and would have a good second season.

Unfortunately, this hasn’t been the case and the Dutchman will likely be moved on as a result.

MATTEO DARMIAN

We every nearly added Marcos Rojo to this list, but with Eric Bailly out for two months and the Argentine putting in a Man of the Match performance against City in the EFL Cup, we can see him turning it around.

It seems Matteo Darmian will find his chances limited this season, with Antonio Valencia making a solid start to the season at right-back.

18-year-old Timothy Fosu-Mensah has also impressed when called upon and it seems likely they will be United’s two right-backs next year.
