Spurs and Chelsea fans in their respective areas of the Transfer Tavern face an anxious wait, as the future of a certain youngster is uncertain. 

Pundits of world football have always been a topic of heated discussion over the years, with shots being fired from all angles. Another pundit to join the bandwagon is former Liverpool and Spurs man Jamie Redknapp, who spoke out about Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the last few days.

The Mirror reported that the son of former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, urged the Chelsea midfielder to go and prove Conte wrong for sending him out on loan.

Spurs themselves, have enjoyed one of the best starts in England, only behind the two Manchester clubs, as they mount their Champions League and Premier League challenge.

Loftus-Cheek has enjoyed a rise in his career of late, as a loan move away from Stamford Bridge to Crystal Palace has seen him enjoy more regular game time. He’s always had the potential, but due to Antonio Conte’s lack of exposure to youngsters, he’s struggled to gain any form of first-team football.

His recent form at Crystal Palace earned him his first England call-up for their squad to play world giants Brazil and Germany. That has had many of our punters suggesting the midfielder would be better served playing for Tottenham, who have reaped the rewards of Mauricio Pochettino’s faith in young players.

Which just goes to show that given first team football, he has the ability to become something special. In a 0-0 draw with giants Germany, the 21-year-old was handed Man of the Match, as he put on a dazzling display that may just send him to the World Cup.

So here’s a look at 3 reasons why the Chelsea man would be better off at Spurs…

Youth opportunity

It doesn’t take a genius to know about the limited opportunities for a sense of youthful exuberance at Chelsea football club, as Conte opts to only utilize players of the present instead of developing future stars.

In recent times, Mauricio Pochettino has always been open to the opportunity of letting the youngsters display their skills on the big stage. Amazingly, this paid off hugely, as Harry Winks originally was seen as just being a filler for a couple of injuries in the side. Still, ever since his first chance, the England man has become a regular and given the opportunity to represent his country after he impressed the Argentinian.

So for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who only has aspirations of developing his game and being successful while doing it, it looks as if Spurs would provide the starting point for the lift off of his career.

Style of play

Spurs have been at the forefront of an exciting, attacking style of play so far this season. Operating a fluid 3-4-2-1 formation, even the midfielders have been given the license to edge forward and support the attackers.

Currently in a Palace side that holds the fast-paced attack of Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke, Loftus-Cheek has been utilized in both a central midfield roaming role and an attacking role, as he makes use of his pace and trickery in a forward position.

In this current Spurs team, this would suit the services of the England youngster, think of a more mobile Dele Alli. This would leave space for Loftus-Cheek to utilize the vacant attacking position, with his potential to follow in Alli’s footsteps to become one of England’s best players.

Progression and experience

One of the main things pivotal to a player’s progression and development is to learn from the best. If Dele Alli and Harry Kane are to stay with the team, then the youngster can learn an awful lot from the two Spurs men.

Operating in similar positions, little tricks and advice can go a long way in developing a young players game. Being surrounded by the players in the England squad and Spurs squad, no disrespect to Chelsea, but Pochettino has much more to offer the young man, having already seen how Harry Winks has come on leaps and bounds.
