According to report in the Daily Star this morning Martin O’Neill is favoured to replace Roy Hodgson as Liverpool manager by two of the consortiums currently interested in an Anfield buyout.
The legitimacy of the report is questionable and is speculatively based upon the conditions that Liverpool get bought out soon, but would Liverpool fans welcome a switch of manager this early in the season?
Hodgson’s results haven’t been overwhelmingly positive so far this season and still needs time to make improvements.
There have been criticisms of Hodgson’s tactics already this season, some claiming they are too defensive and too similar to Rafa’s tactics.
Todays loss against Manchester United leaves Liverpool with five points from five games, with prospects for the season looking increasingly grim.
In a toss up between the two managers I would go for O’Neill, but dumping Hodgson after just a few months in charge at Anfield would be a little unfair.
Or is this exactly what Liverpool need?
