It’s been a tough old season for Rangers back in the Scottish Premier League and for new manager Pedro Caixinha, there are plenty of lessons to be taken into the next campaign.

Our Gers fans here in the pub have been quietly impressed with the way the Portuguese gaffer has gone about things in his first weeks in-charge at the club, but they know as well as Caixinha that there ins a big summer of rebuilding ahead.

The squad needs improving and there’s plenty of deadwood in the ranks that is holding the team back.

It’s natural after a few years in the lower divisions that some members of the team won’t be good enough but it’s time to draw the line with European football on the horizon.

So after a chat with our no-nonsense Gers-loving barman, here’s the TWO Rangers outcasts that need to be axed by Caixinha this summer…

Niko Kranjcar

Sadly for former Spurs star Niko Kranjcar, this season has been a poor one because of injury and loss of form.

The Croatian international has spent much of the campaign watching on from the sidelines, and there are plenty of Gers fans here in the pub that would have liked to have seen him on the pitch more often.

But it wasn’t to be and he’s one that should start again elsewhere this summer.

Matt Crooks

Matt Crooks has been on-loan at Scunthorpe United this season and has done a decent job for the promotion-pushers, but his long-term future at Ibrox is looking weak.

Signed alongside Josh Windass, he just hasn’t cracked the Rangers first-team in the slightest and like Kranjcar, is unlikely to forge a first-team career under new boss Caixinha, who will have his own ideas and dreams.
