Time to get realistic: 2 players Crystal Palace could realistically seal deals for in the next week

Crystal Palace supporters in the Transfer Tavern are still endowed with enthusiasm having finalised the appointment of Frank De Boer.

The Eagles’ fans are still overjoyed at the appointment of De Boer, the first foreign manager in the club’s history; now their attention begins to divert towards potential arrivals.

Having been involved in a relegation scrap, Palace supporters will be exceedingly keen to avoid such a situation this season – this ambition necessitates new arrivals.

The South London team have been linked with several noteworthy targets, yet have decided to wait until De Boer’s appointment before beginning to complete deals

Naturally, having appointed a manager of Dutch descent, it makes perfect sense to utilise your knowledge of the market and Palace are expected to target numerous players from the Eredivisie.

Our landlord has decided to take a closer look at TWO transfers that could be completed next week….

Kenny Tete

Palace’s 47-year-old manager is supposedly keen on forming a more youthful team, and the former Ajax boss has decided to target a player from one of his previous employers.

Kenny Tete is a 21-year-old defender who was incidentally handed his Ajax debut by De Boer. The Daily Telegraph reports that the Eagles are planning a swoop for the versatile right-back, who has 12 months remaining on his contract.

The Dutch defender was primed to join Galatasaray in January, yet the deal fell through, and Palace is reportedly facing interest from Lyon to acquire the Netherlands international.

Last season was considered a breakthrough year for the defender, who made 31 appearances for the Europa League finalists.

Tete is recognised for his superb passing ability and comfort on the ball and would strengthen a depleted defence considering Sakho’s return to Liverpool.

Our landlord firmly believes that this would be a positive move for Palace, and it may be possible to purchase the right-back at a reduced price given his contractual situation.

Joel Veltman

Another defender who is subject of Palace interest is Ajax’s, Joel Veltman. Similarly to Tete, the 25-year-old has 12 months remaining on his contract, and both Palace and Spurs are reportedly eager to sign the Dutch international.

The Evening Standard reports that Palace is considering a swoop for the defender, who can operate in multiple positions – he played as a right-back in the Europa League final defeat to Manchester United.

Veltman has been a mainstay in the Ajax team, since 2012 he has amassed 165 appearances and has been capped by his country on 17 occasions.  He is recognised for his strong tackling ability, and comfort in possession – he often likes to embark on advancing runs.

Palace’s need for defensive recruitments is being outlined by De Boer, and our landlord believes this could be a significant coup for the Eagles if they succeed in thwarting Tottenham’s efforts.

Palace fans, are you happy with these transfers? Let us know!
