The Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were feeling a lot happier with their side after the Reds finally picked up their first win of 2017 – at the fifth attempt, last Wednesday night.
Though, the jubilation did not last long, with the Reds succumbing to a shock 3-2 defeat to Paul Clement’s Swansea City on Saturday.
With the January transfer window closing in less than a fortnight, the punters sipping on their drinks will be wondering whether the squad will be strengthened before the end of the month.
Sadio Mane’s departure to the African Cup of Nations earlier this month certainly seems to have taken away some of the fluidity that we saw flowing throughout the team earlier in the campaign, and could be one area that Klopp is taking a closer look at – the landlord believes they need at least one new forward.
Here are THREE signings Liverpool could realistically seal deals for this week…
Geoffrey Kondogbia

The latest reports in France suggest that Liverpool have made enquiries for Inter Milan central midfielder Kondogbia, who has previously interested Premier League rivals Arsenal – the Reds fans at the bar will remember him bursting on the scene with some impressive performances in the Champions League for Monaco.
The Frenchman has made just 11 Serie A appearances for the Italian giants this season however – with Ever Banega and Joao Mario often preferred in the middle of the park – and will surely be looking for a move away from the San Siro in search of more regular first team football.
The physical 23-year-old would likely be a good fit in the English top flight – and have the landlord reminiscing about the days of Graeme Souness – and would go some way to easing Jurgen Klopp’s worries if, for example, captain Jordan Henderson was missing – as he was in the 2-2 draw with Sunderland earlier this month in which Emre Can struggled in his place.
Sead Kolasinac

While James Milner is doing a fine job in the role currently, there is no doubt that Liverpool need to buy a natural left-back sooner rather than later with Alberto Moreno looking to have no future at Anfield – and the supporters standing at the bar keen to get rid too.
One player that Jurgen Klopp has been linked with, and will know well from his time managing in the Bundesliga, is Schalke’s Kolasinac, although he could face competition for the defender’s signature from Juventus.
While he has often been deployed on the left side of a back four for the German outfit, the 23-year-old can also play at centre-back and in defensive midfield – that sounds familiar to the landlord – and is known to be physically strong and determined – something that is required in the Premier League.
Leon Bailey

As we mentioned previously, Liverpool seem to be missing that spark in attack without the unpredictability of Sadio Mane, but one player that could provide that is Genk winger Bailey.
The Jamaica international would certainly add a new dimension to the Reds after scoring eight goals and providing 10 assists for the Belgian outfit this term – impressive stats that will be talked about all across the tavern – and boost a frontline that is aiming to win their first ever Premier League title.
The 19-year-old, who is also said to be interesting the Reds’ top flight rivals Chelsea, along with Roma and Bayer Leverkusen, is rated at around £20m – a fee that the even the landlord believes isn’t too bad in the current climate.
