The Bournemouth fans are in the Transfer Tavern and they are discussing who they’d like to see leave the club, and who they want to stay.
Considering how lacklustre the majority of Eddie Howe’s signings in last season’s summer transfer window were, they had an unbelievable season, finishing ninth in the league.
Howe’s men are now gearing up for their third season in the top flight and this time around if they want to improve, there is no room for passengers within the side.
Every Bournemouth player will need to contribute to the team’s success and whilst that means bringing in some fresh faces, that also means letting some players go.
Some players’ bad performances can be enough to derail a whole team’s momentum so Howe cannot allow that to happen.
Some players within the Bournemouth ranks are transfers who have flopped and others are players who may have found their level a few years back in the Championship.
On that note, here are two players who will hold Bournemouth back next season, if they remain at the club.
Jordon Ibe
At the time of his arrival, Jordon Ibe became Bournemouth’s most expensive player ever.
That record has since been broken by the signing of Nathan Ake from Chelsea last month, and thank god it did because Ibe flopped last season.
There are many Bournemouth fans out there who believe Ibe should be given another chance to showcase his abilities.
However, our landlord disagrees.
If Ibe had shown some glimpses of being something special then may Howe could give him another go, but he offered nothing all season.
Get rid of him now and there may be time to find a suitable replacement.
Dan Gosling
Dan Gosling has been a fantastic servant to Bournemouth since his arrival from Newcastle in 2014.
However, where other players like Harry Arter have grown into competent Premier League talent, Gosling has stalled.
A decent squad player to use in domestic cup competitions, he isn’t good enough to line up in the Premier League.
He won’t be going anywhere as he has recently put pen to paper on a new contract at Bournemouth, another sign of Howe’s loyalty that could cost him.
We’ll see if our landlord is right in his opinion of Dan Gosling because Howe will surely be playing him next season.
