‘Time to grab a first team spot’ – Rangers fans desperately want youngster promoted after tweet

The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to watching their new-look side under Steven Gerrard this season, although they’ll be hoping that the young Glenn Middleton is given some time on the pitch. The youngster was part of Scotland’s U21 side that finished 4th in this summer’s Toulon tournament and now he’ll be aiming for a successful 2018/19 season.

Glenn Middleton isn’t a name that many Gers will know of just yet. The 18-year-old signed for Rangers from Norwich in January this year and will be looking forward to making his way through the Glaswegian side’s academy and into the first team at Ibrox. The Scottish side isn’t lacking in talent on the wings, although that’s not to say that Middleton wouldn’t be a welcome addition to the first-team.

If the youngster made the jump to the seniors, you can guarantee that he’d add pace and the ability to beat his man with the versatility to play on both wings despite predominantly being a left-winger. The club will be focusing on making a return to winning ways this season after watching from the sidelines as their Old Firm rivals won Scottish footballs first ever double-treble, something that Gerrard will be keen to make sure never happens again.

Rangers fans will be unsure of what to expect next season from Stevie G, and with his only coaching experience coming with Liverpool’s U18s it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him throw some youth stars into the first-team fold.
