For the punters in the Transfer Tavern, this weekend played out as dramatic as they come. 

With the Premier League now oh so competitive, it seems like almost weekend we are treated to an absolutely barnstorming 48 hours of action from up and down the league.

Chelsea, of course, extended their winning streak to seven games and sit pretty at the league’s summit, though Liverpool and Manchester City are keeping up the pressure with wins themselves.

Alan Pardew’s nightmare at Crystal Palace is there for us all to enjoy after Bob Bradley somehow saw his side win 5-4 in one of the craziest Premier League games in years.

So, not to dwell too much, but the punters in the Tavern are waxing poetic about their teams in some regards, while lambasting the same mistakes that have so far plagued their respective campaigns.

With that in mind, here are TWO people who can look upon their TT pint glasses as half-full and TWO as half-empty.

1/2 Full – Philippe Coutinho

When Philippe Coutinho went off early against Sunderland with a gruesome-looking ankle injury, the Liverpool fans propping up the bar really feared the worst.

The brilliant Brazilian samba star is hugely influential on the Reds and while his likely absence will come as a blow, reports are suggesting he’ll only be out for around a month or so.

It really could have been a lot worse.

1/2 Empty – Mauricio Pochettino

The tide appears to be turning on Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur.

Here’s a man who appeared to revitalise the north London outfit upon his arrival, introducing a new dynamism not seen on Hotspur Way for many years.

Still, things have looked stale recent months and publicly criticising Moussa Sissoko is only adding to the sour nature right now.

1/2 Full – Pedro

Not much has gone right for Pedro since he moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2015, failing to live up to the hype following his trophy-laden stint with Barcelona.

Still, he’s been improving amid Antonio Conte’s tactical change and his stunning goal against bitter rivals Tottenham will surely write him into Stamford Bridge folklore for a while.

1/2 Empty – Paul Pogba

Though you could put most of the Manchester United team (as well as Jose Mourinho obviously) in this entry, Paul Pogba is perhaps the biggest loser of United’s weekend.

That awful dive following a ‘tackle’ from Mark Noble is, amazingly, one of the only notable things he’s done since his world-record move from Juventus.
