The Guardian seems to have all of our Tottenham Hotspur fans looking up with renewed interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they carry some rather interesting quotes from their manager.

Mauricio Pochettino may not have been a very busy boy on deadline day but it seems he is pretty confident of not only keeping his star players but finishing in those coveted top four Champions League qualification spots to boot.

Speaking about the future of one of his best players Hugo Lloris, the Argentine tactician claimed: “He is happy here and maybe in the future, in his mind, he is playing in the Champions League with Tottenham.”

After all as one of our more cynical punters notes over by the pool table, Spurs are not exactly a club who can resist the biggest offers and we have long heard the rumours about Lloris wanting to play Champions League football.

That said, if Pochettino can deliver those ambitions or at least look like he can, then the prospect of keeping Lloris for the long-term will be that much more possible.
